Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: Just saw The Music Never Stopped (film)

PS

Nothing against the people who are trying to make this movie - I'm sure they are fine Americans and love their children, etc. - BUT the way they went about this was all wrong for this organization.

They bought the rights to some book (I'm too lazy to look up which one), then announced the movie, and THEN approached the GD about music rights, well, that all kind of proves they had no idea who they were dealing with, and therefore may not be exactly the right people to make this movie.

Reportedly they were turned down because 1) they had no upfront money and wanted to pay for the music rights with back-end points and 2) the GD and the widder Koons are still trying to get a Grateful Dead movie made.
